I've got a crazy obsession for backless clothing. I do mean crazeeey. Seeing bare back fogs up my mind, or rather, senses. Let's say for example, you see a girl wearing a completely uninteresting top in the ugliest colour ever, then she turns around and her back is... BARE. Ok honestly an ugly top is ugly no matter what. But upon seeing the exposed back, I will stop to reanalyze and in seconds dismiss my harsh first judgment and instantly develop a new found love. Okay, slightly exaggerated but to an undetermined degree, true. I may try to recollect my senses and rethink later on but that is rarely prompted unless I was with a friend who questioned my judgment. Could this be a fetish? Well, whatever the case, you can be sure my eyes will follow your back. Okay, starting to sound like a creepy old man, better stop.

An exposed back can really give an edge to a seemingly conservative outfit without looking skanky. It also adds the good ol' element of surprise :)
Throw over a loose-fitted jacket and tie the blouse, 2 ways of deconstructing your look.

Finally got around to wearing these boots I purchased from Shakuhachi a while ago. I figured it went well with the outfit. The AA pants was something that arrived only yesterday. It is so fabulous I just had to wear it the next day. Never had pants that fits so perfectly well. Mink Pink knit, Don't Ask Amanda blouse, mustard pants, Sportsgirl shoes, Leopard fur bag

I felt like going colourful today but didn't want to look like a 180 degrees turn as I have been wearing pretty much black for the past few days. I wore a basic white knit over the green & mustard as an attempt to tone down the brightness which was also an excuse to hide the puff shoulders on my green blouse. At the time when I made my purchase, I was too taken by the colour that the puff did not matter. I prefer my blouses relaxed, boyfriend style.

That aside, I was reminded that I suck badly in word games. Beau Coops Garbo, Friend of Mine Hutton, Sam Edelman Pax Studded, Friend of Mine Pablo, Friend of Mine Claw

I have been lusting over these pairs of shoes/boots ever since they were released. The sight of metal parts incorporated into anything other than jewellery is interesting to see. Metal is such a refined matter. Even if it was smashed, crumbled or melted to the point of liquidity, it can still hold a certain level of refinement, if manipulated correctly. And that explains why I love working with metals for my jewellery. The thought of owning one of these metal(lic) pairs has been on my mind.

J Shoes Ranch Canter Slip On

However, my <strike>recent purchase</strike> is one without the hard smooth finish that I so desire. So why did I not go for the first few that are listed? In fact, I am terribly in love with the range of Friend of Mines. Answer is simply because affordability and versatility are two huge affecting factors in my decision making. I am always more willing to pay for something that goes with everything. And as for this pair, I can see myself wearing it with every outfit under the sun. Also, the low heel means I won't have to sacrifice comfort for style. Perfect. I do realize the Hutton boots is on par in terms of versatility and practicality. Then again, paying more than $200 on footwear is a luxury I can hardly afford. No matter how beneficial it will be to my wardrobe. Maybe in the future, where I begin to reap the fruits of labour in my work field.

That is, if the fruits are abundant enough.

The boots also resemble the highly coveted Isabel Marant Dicker which is more than anything I could afford. So I'd like to think it was a good buy.
Indecisive me decided to let this one go and save up for something (better?) lol
Stefanie and I indulged in a photo taking sesh after class. We had tons of fun. Nuff said.

About the outfit: I love all things chunky, comfortable & unique. Thus, I invest in a lot of knitwear which eventually led me to purchase this One Teaspoon cardi. The main selling point for me was how effortless it looked on the body. Then I came to appreciate the silver pins on it which doesn't submit to the standards of the norm. Now that the weather's getting warmer, I'll have to pass up on them soon. However with warmer weather comes warm weather clothes; cute crops and short shorts! Can't wait!

Fluffy Pink Knit. Can someone say cute overload??? No way was I walking out of the house before toning it down. So I whipped out my darkest shade of lipstick & paired it with the toughest looking shorts; distressed studded with leopard printed pockets, put on my Doc Martens and I was ready to go. Oh and don't forget the sunnies.
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3825794301351943719.post-50089986099872538302011-09-01T20:34:00.001+08:002011-09-01T20:36:15.080+08:00Classic sneakers

Today I took on the role of photographer for every picture in the post. Tried to implement more creativity in my shots but it proved to be quite challenging without a tripod, having to place my camera on the next best thing I could find. I ended up taking most of my shots from tables and it got pretty tiresome when I had to run back and forth in time for the auto-timer. I do have a remote clicker but haven't figured out how to use it yet. Last time I tried, it didn't work. I don't know what the problem is but will look into it again otherwise, it's just laying around and it wasn't cheap.

On a side note, though my shoe collection consists mainly of boots now, I still own a pair of Converse. So easy to wear and comfy, a definite wardrobe staple.
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3825794301351943719.post-2386358480930769972011-08-30T22:27:00.000+08:002011-08-30T22:27:29.040+08:00Floppy Fedora

When you're running late for class and don't have time to coordinate an outfit, just throw on a jumper and your regular comfort jeans and accessorize to give it some oomph.

Floppy hats are recently becoming popular. I bought mine on sale just yesterday for $25. Here I am wearing my favorite pair of jeans, the only thing in my wardrobe which I've worn to death. It is slowly becoming looser per number of times of use. That, or I've lost weight. Either ways, I may have to purchase the same pair a size smaller. Cos I can't live without it!
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3825794301351943719.post-10050009462708500922011-08-30T00:18:00.004+08:002011-09-04T04:24:33.434+08:00Convertible

Red blazer from Singapore

Adding on to my last post, I easily took my previous outfit from day to night by switching blazers. I changed into a striking red I wouldn't normally wear but found very suitable for nights out. It had been sitting in my wardrobe unused so I am glad I remembered it before heading to dinner.

Slightly out of the blue, but I must say I am very much infatuated with black & white photography. It just adds so much depth to an otherwise plain picture.

P.S. I do regret having to take the picture myself, doesn't really portray things well.
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3825794301351943719.post-54268834720643516942011-08-29T20:08:00.003+08:002011-09-01T21:22:47.449+08:00Monday: Blues

On days when I'm not sure what to wear, I go monochromatic. To avoid looking too dull, I try to include subtle colours. In this instance, I went for a chalky blue. I kept my hands simple and opted for a neckpiece instead. Blazers are perfect on a cool sunny day. I especially prefer ones that come with shoulder pads. Adds structure to the body and gives your oufit some extra boldness.

Ksubi is one of my all-time favorite Australian labels and I just had to dedicate a post to it. Designers Dan Single and George Gorrow seem to know what girls want. I usually find myself craving to try on every single piece. Unfortunately, I can only admire through the screen as it is not popularly stocked in Perth. Reasons being, I assume, the heavy price tag and Perth being a small town. They do have their affordable pieces but they are nowhere near cheap. However, don't take my word for it, as this is coming from a girl born and bred in Brunei where everything is jaw-droppingly cheap.

Aside from being an ultra-rad designer line, Ksubi is also a cult denim label. Spotted on notable celebrities such as Fergie, Hilary Duff, Noami Watts, Hayden Christensen & more (source: Denim Blog), it is definitely one to look-out for. I have already invested in a few pairs of their highly coveted denim. The quality, cut and fit is amazing. I personally think they're worth the splurge as jeans are forever and can take you through the seasons.
I am currently coveting the edgy leather jacket from their latest collection $699. Price is overkill but you are definitely getting the bang for your buck. It has the perfect balance of structure and grunge. The uniquely structured hems and collar is reason enough for me to make my purchase. Now, to find the cash.

If I were to describe Ksubi in one word: effortless-cool.

I cheated, that's two words :P

self-made scarab ring, Lovisa ring $16

I love rings. My outfits would be incomplete without them. Aside from announcing my love for rings, I am showcasing one of my designs and a new ring I bought yesterday. My ring wasn't intended to look old & rusty but I guess that gives it a vintage appeal and it works. It is a two finger ring which articulates. Egyptian beetle, scarab inspired.

So this is another one of my many attempts to get into blogging. Hopefully I find myself interesting enough to make it last. Because what is the point if I don't want to read my own writing?
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
